What is reflection? How can I use different types of reflection to represent myself in the work I create?
I began my investigation by experimenting with the light on my camera and how it creates different reflections on and through my skin. This inspired me to explore reflection through the use of different media. I experimented with printing, doodling, origami, light/ photography, and laser cutting. All of my mixed media work illustrates reflection in some way; let that be a literal reflection, reflection of color and contrast, symmetrical reflection, light reflection, or personal reflection. Revision occurred when I took the time to identify the strengths of each piece and how I translated it into the piece that followed. I also explored scale in my work, with my last piece being 59” by 53.5” and serving as the anchor of my presentation of work. When I installed my work I designed the placement of every piece to illustrate reflection as well.
